The most wonderful invention EVER!!!

This morning I was getting ready for church when my phone beeped, this meant I had a facebook notification. Every single time my phone beeps at me, I get a little too excited and most of the time it isn't Eric sending me a message, but this morning was different. I hadn't heard from him since Thursday and I was starting to get worried. Everyone tells me "No news in good news" but those words still have not set in for me. I get a little freaked out when I don't hear from him, even if he just went to the grocery store lol. Anyway I am getting off subject. I checked my facebook and for once it was actually him :) For some reason when I see that I have a message or a comment from him, I get like a heat stroke and my heart starts racing and I get kind of sweaty (HAHA super attractive right?) Anyway, he had asked if I was near a computer, and I replied "Yes, just getting ready for church." About 10 minutes went by, and my phone beeped again. As I checked my facebook again, I saw the 3 most beautiful words I had ever seen in my life "GET ON SKYPE." I literally started shaking (and checking my hair and make up in the mirror lol). I FINALLY got to see and talk to my husband, and it was the best 29 minutes and 16 seconds of these past 2 weeks. I was almost late for church but, honestly I didn't care lol. When I got to church I was in a wonderful mood, the sermon was great, I got to see many people I haven't seen in years, and I was surrounded with love from every direction. Everything was perfect, that is until the end. Stacy Conner (the preacher) decided it would be a good idea to call me up to the front of the church and thank me for supporting such a wonderful man and to ask everyone to pray for our family and his safety while he is overseas. This was by far one of the sweetest things I have ever experienced; however, I ended up crying in front of my entire church family lol. It is so moving to have so many people supporting Eric and his family. I just want to thank everyone again for their prayers and support, and to let you all know how much we appreciate them. You are all such blessings in our lives, and I honestly don't think I could get through this without y'all.
OK on a different note. Here is a little update on Eric. He said he is doing just fine and he is adjusting pretty well. He has met some of the villagers and their children and he tells me they are all very nice so far. He says there are still sand storms all the time and he is down to 1 roommate. I guess the other one got moved to a different room. So the "cargo freight sized room" is a little better now lol. He says he gets bored a lot and has some kind of duty all the time. We figured out that the best time to talk for both of us is around 10am our time and 7pm his time. So now there are about 9 hours difference between us. He isn't able to tell me much about what he does, but he assures me he is safe right now (I don't think he would tell me otherwise lol). He tells me that the food there is awesome and that all of the people that work in the chow hall are from different countries, so all of the food they cook is very different from ours and he is loving it. That is pretty much all he is able to fill me in on right now, but I'll take what I can get :).
We love you all and thank you for your support.

Deployment

Hello everyone,
It has been over a year since I have last blogged and I figured now would be the best time to get back at it. Well, Kayla decided now would be the best time lol. My lovely sister told me that I should start blogging as a way to vent and to let everyone know how Eric and I are doing during this deployment. I will be posting updates from Eric as I get them, how I am handling this change in my life, as well as how I am spending these long 6-7 months. LETS GET STARTED!!! :)
As most of you know, Eric deployed to Afghanistan on October 4th. As you know, we took many pictures. Some of which turned out really cute, and most that turned out really sad lol. This has by far been to hardest thing I have ever had to go through in my life and I'm sure it isn't easy for Eric either. We have really had a ton of support from our loved ones and even from people we barley know. I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for their kind words, their support, and most of all, their prayers. You have no idea how much we appreciate and need them. Here are a few pictures that i'm sure most of you have already seen, but I would like to post them for those of you that haven't.

This is probably my favorite picture of the day.

These are our 2 best friends Justin and Lindsey. We are very lucky to have them in our lives :)

I just love this picture of Eric!!!

There was lots and lots of hugging <3

Our "see you later's" (I hate saying goodbye) lasted a pretty long time

Lindsey and I watching them get on the bus :(

Momma took many pictures for us but I only wanted to post a few. Eric arrived safely to Afghanistan and we have realized that there is a 15 hour difference between us, so talking is tough because it is hard to catch each other, but we are adjusting. Eric has informed me that he would like a swiffer lol. He tells me that there has been nothing but rain and sand storms since he arrived. He likes his roommates (he has 2) and he says their rooms are like cargo freight boxes lol but they do have air conditioning. I don't know exactly what he is doing out there right now, but hopefully I will get an update soon.
I have been doing ok. I am living with The Purdy's in Muleshoe and Rylan is doing a pretty good job of keeping me entertained while Eric is away. I am surrounded by many of my loved ones and they have really been doing a fantastic job of supporting Eric and I as well as keeping me busy. Mark and Lynda are just 1.6 miles away (yes I checked lol) so I'm sure I will be seeing them often. Please just remember to keep all of us in your prayers and to pray for Eric's safety. Thank you all for your support!!!

One amazing year together :)

September 6th was our One Year Anniversary! The first thing we did when we got up was eat breakfast and pop in our wedding video :) Yes I know it's cheesy but, it was fun to relive the perfect day lol. After that we went out for lunch and to the pet store to look at puppies lol. I tried to convince Eric we needed another one but, it didn't happen haha. We had to rush home so I could start getting ready for the evening. Eric was very secretive and wouldn't tell me where we were going or what we were doing. So I got ready with out a clue of what to wear ( NOT COOL) haha. So we hit the road to San Diego. We pulled up to the harbor and started walking towards a big ship :) We were going on a dinner dance cruise for the next 3 hours. I started towards the ship and realized that the ramp I had to walk on was almost vertical lol it didn't work so well in my 4 inch heels, it was a pretty funny sight watching me try to climb up that thing lol. Once we got on we got escorted to our table. Eric got us a special table with decorations and an amazing view ( I felt very special ) He also got us a bottle of champagne for our table and truffles on our plates :) They served us a five course meal and each course got better and better. After dessert the music started playing and everyone started to dance. The DJ announced that it was our anniversary and started playing our song. I was very surprised because most people around here have never heard Texas Country lol, that's when Eric told me that he called ahead to make sure they had our song :) It was very romantic and so much fun. I'm pretty sure we were the only ones 2 stepping lol but we had a wonderful time. The food was amazing, the dancing was great, and the sights we saw were beautiful. It was truly a perfect end to a fabulous day. Eric outdid himself to make it a night I'll never forget.
One down, 99 to go lol ;)
Love and miss you all,
Eric and Kyra

Sweet Sweet September!!!

On September 1st my sweet Husband finally came home to me. I don't think I got a minute of sleep the night before he got home. The tanks left the ship at 1 to head back to shore. We weren't supposed to go to base until around 4 to see them because they had to clean all the tanks before they could come see us ( I don't understand why they wanted to torture us like that lol) i just figured 3 months was long enough. Well I left our apartment around 12:30 so I could go watch them drive up. Needless to say, I was a little anxious to see my husband. I got there way too early because as you know, the military is very rarely on time lol. I had to sit in my car forever but, it was well worth it when I saw that first tank round the corner to pull in. Yes I started crying right away but, it only lasted a few minutes lol. After they finally pulled in, they went to the cleaning station and got to work. Me and 2 other girls decided to stand and watch them clean behind the gate instead of going to the grounds where everyone else was at. It was fun trying to spot our husbands in a sea of marines that are all wearing the exact same thing. Every little glimpse we got just made us that much more excited. it wasn't too hard to spot Eric, he was pretty much the only one with glowing hair lol. After standing there for about 3 hours they finally started to make their way towards the gate. At this moment I had chill bumps and tears in my eyes. It was like a movie when we finally saw each other, I sprinted up to the gate ( in my dress and heels I might add lol) and he ran up to me, dropped his bags, and picked my up off the ground. I swear I didn't let go for like 30 minutes lol.
That day was truly one off the best days of my life and nothing could ever top that moment when I finally got to hold him again.
Love and miss you all,
Kyra

Finally!!!

Hello everyone,
I know I know, it's been months since our last blog. I'm sorry, my life just didn't seem as interesting while Eric was gone so I didn't feel like updating lol but, my sister informed me today that I should start writing again :) so here it goes.
I guess I'll sum up the three months I was alone to start. The month of June was very difficult for me and also pretty boring so I won't bore you with that. When July came around things got much better. My momma finally came out for a visit and we had a blast. We did lots of shopping, went to the beach on the 4th and had a BBQ with some of my friends that night. We got to watch some amazing fireworks and ate some great food. Then we did some more shopping lol. One day we up and decided that we wanted to go to VEGAS :) (luckily it's only a few hours a way) so we loaded up and hit the road. We did lots of gambling and lost some money lol but it was a great time. I finally got my momma to drink a little but, she still didn't have near as much fun as me haha. She got to stay for 10 days and it was truly a blessing to have her here with me. About 2 weeks later my friend Rachel came to visit for a week. We went to the zoo, the beach, did more shopping lol, went to a pirate themed birthday party, and ate out A LOT :). At the end of August I decided to hit the road and go to Texas. I stopped in the lovely town of Muleshoe first. I got to see my wonderful in laws for a few days and I got to see some old friends. While I was there I ate at the amazing Leals 3 times (I know your jealous) Kaydence went with me and I discovered she is the worst car partner ever. She just slept the entire time and didn't keep me company lol. I think Mark likes her more than me lol he was so excited to see her, and hated to tell her goodbye lol. Kaydence didn't know what to think of uncle Cooper. He sounds just like Eric only he's twice his size lol and it really freaked her out. After I left the Washington's I headed to Lubbock to see my brothers. I took them out for lunch and later that night we went out dancing. We had a blast!!! The next day I got to see my Aunt Nancy, Uncle john, and my cousin Bayli. Kolby and I met them for lunch and had a wonderful time catching up. After that I got on the road to Lampasas to see my momma, sister Kayla, brother Tyson, and my favorite little man in the world, The Rylanator. There are no words to express how cute this little fart is. We went shopping AGAIN lol, watched some movies, played a little poker, and just enjoyed being with each other. Rylan is the most entertaining thing in the world lol. He makes animal noises, plays tag ( but only if you chase him lol) he loves bath time, he'll give you kisses, he steals big boy hats and tries to wear them lol, and so much more. After Lampasas I loaded up again and went to San Antonio. We took Rylan to a safari, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life. We got to feed a buffalo and Rylan freaked when he touched it's tongue lol. The zebras pretty much attacked us, they kept putting they're heads in our window to get food and just when we thought we got rid of them, they would pop up behind us lol. We saw some amazing animals and Rylans favorites were the ducks and the goats lol. He quacked at the ducks and chased all the little goats around. We also went to the park to have a picnic, play on the jungle gym, and feed the ducks. Rylan liked to eat the bread himself instead of give it to the ducks haha. On the 29th it was time for me to head back home :( I was sad to leave my family but, I couldn't wait to see Eric again. I packed up my bags and hit the road back to California. I got home around midnight after 21 hours of driving ( yep I drove the entire way without stopping) I only had a couple of days to get things ready for Eric :)
I'm sorry this was so long but, I had a pretty exciting three months lol
Love and miss you all,
Kyra

This past month

It has been FOREVER since we blogged. I'm pretty sure we might be the worst bloggers in the world lol. We have had a lot of things going on this past month. To start off, Eric finally turned 21! haha. We went to the gaslamp district in San Diego and had a blast. We ate dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe and it was delicious and fun. We went to the house of blues, a few other bars, and a club opening (we got to cut in line everywhere :) lol) Our favorite was probably Double Duece. They had a mechanical bull and it was hysterical watching everyone ride it. Sadly I couldn't convince Eric to ride, but it was still a lot of fun. We stayed at the Sheraton and had a beautiful view of the marina and we were just minutes away from everything we needed.
There was also another big celebration in our family this month. Our little nephew Rylan turned one! Eric was not able to go to the birthday party because of work :( but there was no way that was going to stop me from going. Kayla had no idea I was coming. I may have told a little white lie to make her belive I couldn't be there lol. There were defenitely some tears when I got there. We all had a blast that weekend. We went swimming, ate some amazing food, got to see the Rylanator walk, and just enjoyed being around family. He got tons of presents and more love than any baby could ask for lol.
One last thing we got to celebrate this month was Cooper signing with the Oklahoma Sooners. The family is estatic and Cooper couldn't be more excited. We love googleing his name and reading all of the wonderful things people have to say about him.
Other than that we have been working and hanging out with our friends. We celebrated Cinco De Mayo with cheap margaritas lol and we had a Beach BBQ saturday. Work has been going really well for both of us. The family I work for is going on a cruise next week so I have the week off YAY! :) Eric is supposed to leave June 11th :( so he is starting to get things ready for that. They say he will be back Sept. 3rd so lets keep our fingers crossed. The days change all the time so there are no guarantees yet.
Thats pretty much everything that has been going on recently. Love and Miss yall!!!

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

So I just realized that we haven't blogged in a while so I just wanted to update everyone on whats going on now a days. I have really been enjoying my new job. The boys are great (most of the time lol) I got my 1st taste of the 3 1/2 year old (Matt) yesterday and he was quite a handful lol. Peter (the baby) is really good. He is a little chunk and really cute but, he makes me really miss my little Goober back in Texas :( Mike (The 6 year old) isn't there very long but he is a sweet kid. Betsy thinks that he might have a little bit of a crush on me lol. Besty is amazing, she is such a sweetheart. She gave me a Wii today when I left CRAZY!!! It made a weird noise so they got the boys a new one. She said it worked great and then just gave it to me lol Eric and I both were hysterical. I guess thats all thats been going on with me.
Eric hasn't had the best week. He had to have some skin cut out of his mouth last friday because there was an infection. Before that he had to get a small pox vaccination so he can deploy :( He says it's really itchy and he has to keep it covered constantly so I don't get it. And to top it all off, he had to have all 4 of his wisdom teeth removed yesterday :( I guess there are a few positives though. He gets to eat ice cream and shakes all day, he doesn't have to go back to work till Thursday, and I rented him some movies so he can watch them all day :)
The past 2 weeks we have seen 3 movies, The Last Song, How to Train Your Dragon, and Date Night. Eric didn't really enjoy The Last Song and I didn't think it was quite as good as the book but, it was still pretty good. We both absolutely loved How to Train Your Dragon lol and Date Night was pretty darn funny.
I guess thats about it. We love and miss yall :)
